Drone Demo Day at Lift for Life Gym

The kids were thrilled to start the summer with Drone Demo Day at Lift for Life Gym led by Frank Romo and his GIS for Good Program. Students explored geospatial technology through hands-on mapping activities and drone flights. They created maps of their communities, identified important landmarks throughout St. Louis, and worked together to discuss the importance of maps and technology in their everyday lives.

The highlight of the day was watching students develop new skills and better leadership practices through their continuous collaboration. As they piloted drones, solved challenges, and encouraged one another, their excitement and confidence grew impacting the entire community.

Lift For Life Gym and RomoGIS are both committed to youth development and creating pathways to opportunity. Together, we are helping students build technical skills, strengthen their confidence, and envision futures they may not have previously considered.

Moments like these remind us that consistent exposure and oppountiy matters for our future leaders. When students are given opportunities to explore new technologies in a supportive environment, they begin to see themselves as future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers who can contribute to our society, economy and ecosystem. Special thanks to GeoSTL for the introduction!
